FAREHAME, HAMPSHIRE

The Old Turn Pike

The aim was to achieve planning consent to enable the relatively small Toll House to be extended, enabling it to provide a more functional family residence and thereby enabling the building to be used and maintained into the future.

The Toll house had, due to the encroachment of the main road and high profile Armco barrier, been somewhat downgraded in its stature and the crumbling and mismatched extension was damaging the host building due to a lack of foundations which meant it was pulling away from and cracking the fabric of the original building.

Consent for a subservient, sensitively designed and complimentary extension in line with Heritage Consultants advices enabled the removal of the damaging lean-to and enabled the family to remain in the house they love, with their growing family, and sustain the heritage asset to the benefit of all into the future.
