Paulton High Street
Conversion/ Re-Build of 2no derelict buildings into 8no flats
Boarded up for 10 years these adjoining properties were an eyesore and becoming a public danger due to dilapidation. Located in a Conservation Area the proposed renovation, due to its prominent High Street location had to meld well with the surrounding street-scene. To achieve this the front elevation design kept a commercial shopfront ‘look’ which was favoured by the Conservation Officer. Directly abutting Paulton High street and with levels to the rear of the property making vehicular access impracticable: on site parking was a controversial issue.
Due to its sustainable location and the renovation being of benefit to both the buildings and location we managed to achieve permission without any parking which was a departure from the Development Plan and, as such, a rare achievement outside of a major City centre.
Common sense and local amenity prevailed
